              Linda Cunningham Bakaj

Linda Cunningham Bakaj passed peacefully at her home on June 1, 2016 in Largo , Florida.  She had moved to Florida from Longport last year.

She was a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Herb Stern Longport Scholarship Fund.  She had been a member of the Longport Board of Education where the idea for the scholarship fund originated.  She worked diligently to raise money for the Scholarship Fund and was always involved with the activities of the Fund as a worker and as a contributor.  Even after moving to Florida, she wanted to remain on the Board and was in touch by email and telephone.  She traveled to Longport especially for this April’s meeting to participate in the selection of awards.  At that meeting, she donated funds enabling her to receive a special artwork of “Longportopoly.”  She wanted to help provide scholarship money for Longport students and their families and she wanted a memento of her beloved Longport.

She will be missed by the Longport community and by her friends on the Board of the Fund.

The family of Linda has designated the Longport Scholarship Fund for memorial contributions in her memory.  Donations may be made online here on Paypal or sent to Longport Scholarship Fund, Michael Garvin, Treasurer, 32 South 32nd Avenue, Longport, NJ 08403.
